Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) and Tan Chong Ekspres Auto Servis Centre (TCEAS) have announced a voluntary product recall campaign for the Nissan Serena S-Hybrid (C26) Completely Built-Up (CBU) variant. This recall is to reprogram its Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) Control Unit, which will take about 45 minutes. All labour and replacement parts (if any) for this service campaign will be at no cost to owners.
Only the C26 CBU Units Are Affected
Nissan Motor Co. Ltd had conducted an investigation and found that approximately 4,001 units of Nissan Serena S-Hybrid (C26) CBU variant from Japan are affected and need rectification. The affected C26 units are manufactured between September 2012 – November 2013.
However, the Nissan Serena S-Hybrid (C26) Completely Knock Down (CKD) variant, which was launched in Malaysia on November 2014, is not affected by this recall. The current Nissan Serena S-Hybrid (C27) CKD variant, launched on May 2018, and other current Nissan models are also not affected by this exercise.
Owners Take Note
Customers of the affected Nissan Serena S-Hybrid (C26) CBU variant will be notified through TCEAS by letter, SMS or Whatsapp, and are advised to call the nearest TCEAS outlet for an appointment. Selected TCEAS outlets have extended operation hours and are open 365 days a year, making it easier for customers to service their vehicles on weekends and public holidays, as well as to alleviate capacity surge during this recall campaign.
As vehicle ownership may have changed over the years, current owners of this model are reminded to call Nissan Customer Care Centre toll-free line at 1800-88-3838, to find out if their Nissan Serena S-Hybrid (C26) CBU variant is involved in the recall campaign.
For ETCM and TCEAS, customers’ confidence and peace of mind is of utmost importance to the Company, and deeply regrets for any inconvenience caused. Both ETCM and TCEAS are committed to ensure the safety, service and satisfaction of customers are of the highest level, and are working together to promptly address this concern.
