Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Launches New GLE and GLS SUVs

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has introduced three new members of premium SUVs – the Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 4MATIC Coupé, Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé and Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4MATIC.

Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé

The latest additions to the brand’s SUV coupés – the Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 4MATIC Coupé AMG Line and the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC Coupé, are further examples of the Mercedes-Benz strategy to address all the requirements of customers in the premium SUV segment.

Combining striking design, an aggressive appearance and athletic characteristics, the sporty nature of the coupé results in a vehicle that is intense, beautiful and full of passion. The GLE Coupé comes with a priceless and commanding presence. It does not only skillfully embody the principles of Mercedes-Benz design but also focuses on the essential features of two entirely different automobile genes.

Powered by a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder in-line turbo engine that is paired with a 9G TRONIC automatic transmission, the GLE 450 Coupé gets 270kW (367hp) and 500Nm of torque. This enables 0-100km/h acceleration in just 5.7 seconds.

Meanwhile, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupé uses a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder in-line twin turbo engine with EQ Boost system to generate 320kW (435hp) and 520Nm. Combined with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9-speed automatic transmission, this SUV can sprint to 100km/h in 5.3 seconds.

Both models feature the AIRMATIC air suspension system, an adaptive adjustable damping feature which uses highly complex sensor systems and algorithms to adapt the damping characteristics of the road condition and driving situation in real time, providing maximum ride comfort for any situation.

Spacious Luxury

The interiors of the new GLE Coupés share numerous common features with other models in the premium SUV family. There is a clear emphasis on sportiness with its Nappa leather sports seats and steering wheel. The modern cockpit with two large 12.3-inch screens and the strikingly shaped instrument panel, horizontally divided by a trim element tier, are a familiar sight.

Further, the GLE Coupé offers the latest generation MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system with intuitive operating structure, and brilliant graphics with a high visual quality. Smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ensures convenient connectivity with the infotainment system.

The boot of the Coupé is already generous in its standard state. Cargo within the 655 litres storage space is easily concealed by the high-quality, folding and removable cover attached with magnets. Additionally, the backrests of the rear seats fold in a 40:20:40 ratio to increase the boot space to up to 1,790 litres – 70 litres more than its predecessor, and best in this segment. It enlarges the level load space to over 2 metres in length and up to a minimum width of 1,080mm if required – both improvements of 87 and 72 mm respectively compared with its predecessor.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 4MATIC Coupé is priced at RM661,009.42* while the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé is RM787,357.88*.

Flagship Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4MATIC AMG Line

The Mercedes-Benz GLS offers more of everything – more space, more comfort and more luxury. The 3.0-litre 6-cylinder in-line engine electrified with 48-volt technology has an output of 270kW (367 hp) and maximum torque of 500Nm. A further 250Nm of torque and 16kW (22hp) can be produced by the EQ Boost system for short periods. The power is transmitted by the 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission too all wheels in an efficient and smooth manner to ensure greater driving comfort.

On the exterior, the GLS 450 is dressed with an upright radiator grille flanked by MULTIBEAM LED headlamps with 112 LEDs built into each headlamp, chrome-plated underguard in the front apron with the bone-shaped air inlet grille and two powerdomes on the bonnet. It also has a powerful shoulder extending from the rear doors to the LED tail lights.

Interior aesthetics of the GLS is improved with leather appointments and a dashboard support that flows into the door panels. The new GLS also comes with electrically adjustable seats with the EASY-ENTRY system on the third row which enables the seats in the second row to move and fold forward, providing more legroom to the third row. Further, a push of a button is all that is required to stow away the comfortable seats and make full use of the 2400-litre boot space of the GLS.

To further enhance the luxurious experience, the MBUX Rear Seat Entertainment System is available for this 7-seater luxury SUV. Each screen can display independent content selected by the user, allowing each passenger to enjoy movies, music or the integrated web browser. Additionally, the system includes two wireless headsets.

The Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4MATIC has a retail price starting from RM899,888**.

The new premium SUVs are now equipped with Mercedes me connect, the newest generation of connectivity that helps Mercedes-Benz owners to stay connected and in sync with their vehicles.

The connected car service is made to make the lives of Mercedes-Benz owners easier, whether it is to unlock the car, start the engine remotely, get customer support or simply to check the fuel level. The Mmc features the Mercedes-Benz emergency call system (E-call). With a dedicated button on the roof panel, drivers are able to make one-touch emergency calls to the dedicated emergency response centre.

Other features of the Mercedes me connect includes remote vehicle diagnostics, pre-entry climate control, predictive navigation, parked vehicle locator.
