Volvo Car Malaysia has delivered the first batch of Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric to its new owners last weekend. A total of 65 owners had received their respective units of the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric at Volvo dealerships nationwide.
Electrifying Milestone
This marks Volvo Car Malaysia’s next milestone as the company moves into an all-electric future, though it will still be introducing models with internal combustion engine here. Globally, Volvo Cars aims to have electric vehicles make up half of its total sales by 2025, and it wants to be a carbon neutral company by 2040. Locally, Volvo wants to launch a new EV model every year for the next five years.
Only about a month after its official launch, Volvo Car Malaysia has received over 300 orders of the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric. And it expects to deliver a total of 100 units of the locally assembled XC40 Recharge Pure Electric to their new owners by 30th April 2022.
Pure Practicality
The Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric is built on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform. This compact EV is powered by an all-electric powertrain with each axle getting a motor, making it an all-wheel drive. The two electric motors produce 402hp and 660Nm of peak torque, and enables the XC40 to do 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds. Furthermore, the 78kWh lithium-ion battery allows for a driving range of up to 418km (WLTP) on a single charge.
The battery can be charged via the fast charging Direct Current (DC) option, taking about 30 minutes to go from empty to 80% capacity. However, with an 11 kW Alternating Current (AC) charger (Type 2 connector) full charge takes about 7.5 hours.
The XC40 Recharge Pure Electric is available in five colour options – Black Stone, Crystal White Pearl, Denim Blue, Glacier Silver and Sage Green.
The Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric is still offered at the hassle-free price of RM262,459.75*, via www.volvocars.com/my.
