Vlog Australia – So I Went to an Australian Sprint Race / OZ Holiday Fun / YS Khong Driving
Hey Guys and Girls – Whilst here in Australia for a holiday, an avid fan hooked us up with one of of his motorsport friends, Sadrick Lim of Brisbane, and he took me to an Australian Sprint race event.
It was a very interesting morning, and there was lots to learn about grassroots motorsports in Australia – the atmosphere is very casual – of course there are rules and regulations, and everybody has to observe the rules, but most of the competitors know each other – yes, it is a small community, but everybody’s main aim is to have a weekend of fun.
What amazes me is the number of old cars, mostly built up very well, and they can really go too.
Also met Greg McHugh, who drives a Toyota 86GT, and he is one of the faster drivers there. Greg shared some insights on what he has done to improve his car performance, and that portion will appear in Part 2 of this series.
Car Classification for competitors is mostly determined by cubic capacity, with turbocharged engines having a multiplication factor of 1.7, and 4WD machines are in a class by themselves. No restrictions on tyres, and you can do just about anything you want to your car, but like I said, it is all about healthy and friendly competition, with the main objective being always to have fun
The people are very friendly, and were very willing to share their knowledge. I really loved the old bangers.
Now I am getting some ideas on how to build up my E36.
Enjoy the video guys and girls – sharing is caring.
