We Fit NGK Laser Iridium Plugs and NGK Coils On A 2NR Engine For Genting Test | YS Khong Driving

Today’s modern engines have evolved quite a bit; they now produce more power and are generally more fuel efficient than the early engines that I am used to.
Similarly, for the igniting of the air/fuel mixture, gone the are days of spark plugs that laste only 6,000 to 10,000 kilometers, and one single coil for the engine.

Today we have plugs that are used for up to 100,000 kilometers and also a single coli for every cylinder. What used to be on our racing cars are now in day to day cars, and in many cases, the technology has evolved to be even better than what we knew to be the best back in the days.

NGK has been in the automotive industry for close to 60 years now, and spark plugs and coils are their core products; in fact, NGK is the world’s largest producer of spark plugs and ignition coils.

My relationship with NGK ahs always been a good one – I have used NGK products in my race cars, and they have never failed me.

NGK is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) supplier to many automotive brands, and also makes REM (Replacement Equipment Manufacturer) parts for plugs and ignition coils. The REM parts are designed as replacement parts for the original, and they are manufactured to be as good as the original. They also make parts that improve performance, but for our exercise, we just wanted to check out if the replacement parts, in particular, the spark plugs and coils would perform as well as the original, and of course the best test would be to take the car up Genting.
