EV Range Anxiety Test: Can We Make It from Petaling Jaya to Ipoh? | YS Khong Driving
Everyone is curious about fully electric vehicles such as the Mercedes-Benz EQB. Whilst we all know it is a MPV, we do wonder if it can really take long journeys away from home base.
In Malaysia, the government fully encourages electrification and besides tax incentives and lower road tax for electric vehicles, it also encourages the development of an efficient charging network.
Thus, an outstation drive is no longer an issue. Along the North-South Expressway, there already exists a healthy network of available charging stations, equipped with both AC and DC chargers at distances of under 100 kilometers, and this network is fast growing.
We did a run from Petaling Jaya to Ipoh and back, and despite a practical range of a little over 320+ km on the Mercedes-Benz EQB, which was enough to take us to Ipoh, we only needed a short charge to give it enough juice to get back home.
With a little bit of route planning, i.e. knowing the rough locations where there are chargers, we could get to our destination and back with ease.
We logged the journey and gladly share it with you – do watch it and let us have your questions and/or comments below.
