Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) will be introducing a new variant of the Hyundai Staria MPV later in the fourth quarter of 2022. The new variant will be a 10-seater, to complement the premium 7-seater variant it launched a year ago.
Meeting Demand
According to Mr. Low Yuan Lung, Managing Director of HSDM, the 10-seater Staria is a much-anticipated
MPV after the introduction of the luxurious 7-seater variant last year.
“We have been getting enquiries for the 10-seater variant as there has been anticipation that the 10-seater variant will replace the Starex. Like the Starex, this 10-seater variant is ideal for big families, tour operators and businesses but with vast improvements and more functionalities in every aspect of the vehicle as compared to the Starex,” he said.
Futuristic Design
Featuring Hyundai’s new design language that is futuristic and iconic, the Staria evokes the streamlined form of a spaceship. The sleek exterior is defined by a single stroke running from front to rear — inspired by the curve of light that illuminates the Earth’s horizon at sunrise when viewed from space.
The Staria’s front is embellished with horizontal daytime running lights (DRLs) and a positioning lamp on its front, both running across the width of the vehicle. This is complemented by a bold, wide radiator grille with a unique pattern.
The clean silhouette is further accented by a pair of low-set headlamps. Hyundai uses the same body color for all frontal parts to maximise the vehicle’s modern and pure style. Its rear design emphasises brevity and sleekness, parametric pixel rear lamp and a large rear glass.
Space and Power
The Staria’s interior space is one of the best in its segment, offering generous legroom and headroom. The interior is flexible and can be converted into an expansive additional cargo space when all seats are pushed together, made possible by the versatile long sliding seat function.
Furthermore, the full-flat mode applied to the rear passenger seats of the 10-seater Staria makes this vehicle the perfect choice for activities that require lots of room and interior flexibility, such as camping and for equipment-intensive transportation.
The 10-seater Hyundai Staria is fitted with a diesel-powered 2.2 CRDi engine that is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It delivers an estimated power output of 177PS and 431Nm of torque. Its high-efficiency, air-cooled turbocharger has an improved compressor and turbine wheel performance to give better low speed torque performance.
It will be available in three variants, namely Lite, Plus and Max. Pricing is estimated to start from RM170k with a booking fee of RM1,000.
