The short wheelbase, three-door Land Rover Defender 90 is now available for sale in Malaysia, to complement the five-door Defender 110 models. The Defender is an award-winning all-terrain model crowned as the most capable Land Rover to-date.
Powertrain choices
Similarly with the Defender 110, there are also two Ingenium petrol engines to choose from for the Defender 90. The P300 is a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine which produces 300PS and 400Nm of torque. While the P400 is a more powerful 3.0-litre 6-cylinder MHEV with 400PS and 550Nm of torque. The MHEV is a mild hybrid powertrain with twin-scroll turbocharging and a 48V supercharger. Both the engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a twin-speed transfer box.
Capable Off-road and On
The new Land Rover Defender 90 sports a modern and bold design, while maintaining its highly-acclaimed all-terrain capabilities. The twin-speed transfer box also provides a boost of speed and control to power through challenging conditions such as steep inclines and declines, unpredictable terrain and off-road driving.
The short-wheelbase Defender is designed with a maximum wading depth of 900mm, in addition to the Electronic Air Suspension which is height-adjustable to suit the driving and ensure a comfortable experience. This ranges from an access height of 40mm below normal ride height to an extended height of up to 75mm.
Meanwhile, for extreme off-road conditions and unsteady surfaces, a further extended ride height of 70mm is available, providing exceptional wheel articulation for more demanding terrain. Complementing this is the Adaptive Dynamics feature that allows drivers to fine-tune their driving characteristics. With adaptive dampers evaluating bodily movements up to 500 times per second, Adaptive Dynamics utilises the data to optimise control and comfort instantaneously for the driver.
Future-ready
The Land Rover Defender is built with next-generation Electronic Vehicle Architecture (EVA 2.0) that supports Software-Over-The-Air (SOTA) updates. This will ensure that the Defender 90 will get better with age and enable Land Rover’s fast and intuitive new Pivi Pro infotainment system.
EVA 2.0 consists of a state-of-the-art forward-facing digital camera, advanced ultrasonic sensors and a powerful onboard network which supports a comprehensive suite of driver assistance technologies. This includes a 3D Surround Camera that provides 360-degree visibility on surrounding areas, off and on-road, for maximum security. The advanced camera system provides enhanced augmented on-screen visualisation when using Wade Sensing and Land Rover’s ClearSight Ground View transparent bonnet technology, to improve visibility.
Plenty of Choices
The Land Rover Defender 90 is as stylish as it is powerful. It comes with 170 individual accessories, the largest range ever produced for a Land Rover, to allow owners to personalise and customise their vehicle. The accessories include the innovative Exterior Side-Mounted Gear Carrier that offers extra space, as well as a new Above and Beyond Collection of outdoor performance equipment and apparel.
