Seat Leon Cupra / FanCar Genting HillClimb / Awesome Power and Handling Package / YS Khong Driving
It was a fan and subscriber who came all the way from Singapore with his Seat Leon Cupra, which has the engine of the Golf R but with FWD instead of AWD.
A very interesting configuration indeed, as I had always wondered how the uprated engine of the R would be like un a GTi; this is the exact configuration of the Cupra.
I of course readily agreed, and that was how this drive came about. Then I found that the power has been bumped up to 320 horses, and that made it even more interesting.
Besides, the Cupra also has the new XDS that is now in the Golf 8, and the total package is one awesome and agile car.
We had a bit of an issue with the cam actuator, which was a bit sticky from not enough of use, causing the ECU to go into Limp Mode. A simple switch off and restart solved the problem – at the time, I thought it was overboost, and it was only later after doing a diagnostics check that we found the real problem.
Anyway, we managed to continue and completed the drive without any further problems.
It’s a lovely car; thanks Eugene for the drive.
