Continental UC7 [Tire Review] – Including a Wet Road Test Up Genting Highlands | YS Khong Driving
Being motoring enthusiasts, we all understand the importance of having a good set of tires, but the cost of replacement can be an obstacle for some. As for me, I am constantly on the lookout for reasonably-priced tires that can still do a good job while on the road.
It seems that the Continental UC7 is a tire that would fit the bill – built with a new compound that provides a good balance between road grip and durability, and is great in the wet. As a bonus, the tire also features very much reduced road noise, thanks to its built-in noise breakers.
We fitted a set onto my Golf Mk6 TSi, and took it up our favorite mountain road to check the tires out.
Definitely the tires were quieter than the set it replaced, and the cornering was very good too. We managed to test the dry grip for a little bit at the start of the hill climb – it was drizzling slightly, but the road was dry enough for us to confirm the dry grip was good, but the real proof of the UC7 came later when it poured cats and dogs.
Suffice to say, the Continental UC7 took to the wet like a duck to water – please watch the video in full, and let us know your comments.
