The announcement by the government of the new economic stimulus plan to stimulate the economy reeling the COVID-19 pandemic had sent car companies into a frenzy. The government aims to drive businesses and stimulate the economy and one of the initiatives involves the automotive industry. This assistance for the industry includes 100 per cent sales tax exemption for locally assembled vehicles and a 50 per cent reduction for fully-imported models from 15th June 2020 until the end of the tax-free incentive period.
